On 15–16 July 2026, Atira Ruthenia took part in the festival "A Millennium of Ukrainian Statehood: from Rus to Modern Ukraine", held at the Museum of Kyiv History for the Day of Ukrainian Statehood. The festival was organised by the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and the Museum of Kyiv History.
The two-day programme brought together historians, researchers, museum professionals, representatives of state institutions and the wider public. It included lectures and discussions with leading Ukrainian historians, a thematic mini-exhibition on the continuity of Ukrainian statehood, museum tours and an educational programme.
Living history in the reconstruction space
Our club joined the festival's historical reconstruction space with a living-history presentation, alongside the reenactment clubs Kyiv Grad, Pecherska Sotnia and UNR. On the first day, 15 July, the Day of Ukrainian Statehood itself, our leader Bohdan Ostroushenko, a war veteran, talked to visitors about his reconstructed clothing and kit and the details behind them. The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory filmed his talk: watch the video on Instagram.
A letter of thanks
After the festival, the Head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Oleksandr Alforov, wrote to thank the club:
"Thanks to your professional work in historical reconstruction, festival visitors were able not only to learn about historical eras, but also to feel their atmosphere through the recreation of the culture, everyday life and traditions of past centuries." (Letter No. 3564/5.1-05-26 of 23 September 2026, translated from Ukrainian)
We are grateful to the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and to the Museum of Kyiv History, with which our club signed a memorandum of cooperation in May 2026, for the invitation and for their work in bringing Ukraine's long history closer to the public.
