Patronage

Help keep history alive

Historical reconstruction is expensive, slow and unglamorous work. Support from patrons is what allows it to be done properly rather than approximately.

Where support goes

Every contribution becomes an object, a lesson or an event

Research

Access to publications, archives and museum collections; translation and documentation work.

Reconstruction

Materials for clothing, armour and equipment, and the workshop tools that produce them.

Training

Protective kit, training weapons and hall hire, so newcomers can start without buying equipment.

Education

Free school and museum programmes, lectures and public demonstrations.

Events

Transport, camp infrastructure and the cost of appearing at heritage sites and festivals.

Crafts

Supporting makers within the community and the preservation of historical craft skills.

Become a patron

Cultural patronage, in the oldest sense of the word

Patrons can support a single project — a suit of armour, a lecture series, a festival appearance — or contribute regularly to the general work of the organisation. Institutions and companies are welcome to discuss partnerships and sponsorship of specific programmes.
