From our archive: how a conference in Korosten became a medieval camp (2023)

21 October 2026

We are bringing the club's history onto the website, one season at a time. This post goes back to Korosten in 2023, where one event led to another.

May: the conference

On 27 May 2023, Korosten's city day, the town hosted the regional history and archaeology conference "Drevlian Towns: from Heritage to Sustainable Development". Atira Ruthenia presented the club, its historical reconstruction and historical fencing, and joined the discussion of the region's history and archaeology, tourism and community initiatives. That is where the idea of a joint event came up.

August: the camp

On 26 August 2023 we ran a medieval historical camp in Korosten with the city's Culture and Tourism Department. Visitors saw everyday life in the 14th–15th-century Grand Duchy of Lithuania and watched battle demonstrations. Children played games and tried drill, and there was a woodworking masterclass.

Korosten City Council's Culture and Tourism Department included this cooperation in its report on 2023 projects.
